Two members of the New People's Army (NPA) have been killed after an encounter with the cops in Daraga, Albay.
According to DZRH Naga's report, the incident happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, when the two rebels exchanged gunshots with the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP said the encounter occurred at Barangay Bascaran near Bicol International Airport, where they were assigned to manage the traffic.
Based on the authority's report, the two NPAs riding a motorcycle suddenly arrived and shot at the policemen who were on guard, but none of the authorities were hit.
This is where the police retaliated, killing one of them immediately.
Later in the hot pursuit operation, another NPA who was with the first victim was also killed.
The investigation into the incident continues, while the identities of the two NPAs killed are still unknown.
