The 10 fraternity members found guilty in the death of UST Law student Horacio 'Atio' Castillo III are likely to be transferred to New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City today, October 2.
In a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson JSupt. Jayrex Bustinera confirmed the upcoming transfer of the convicted individuals.
The 10 inmates have been detained at Manila City Jail since 2018 and have been sentenced to reclusion perpetua or up to 40 years imprisonment.
According to Bustinera, they are waiting for the necessary documents, such as the court order, to transfer the ten convicted individuals to Bilibid, and the transfer could take place today.
Bustinera asured that security measures are in place for their transport and that the BJMP is prepared to move them to their new facility as soon as they receive the court's order.
On Tuesday, the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 11 found 10 fraternity members guilty of violating the Anti-Hazing Law in relation to Castillo’s death in 2017.
