Police arrested 10 individuals who introduced themselves as National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents on Monday, November 22, and entered Avala Alabang Village, an exclusive subdivision in Muntinlupa City.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspects entered the subdivision after claiming that they will visit friends along Maria Cristina Street but instead went to the home Weijian Pan, a Chinese businessman, at the Country Club drive.

The suspects, posing as NBI agents, threatened Erick Cai, a 19-year old Chinese interpreter, and opened the gate of the victim by force.

Authorities reported that David Tan Liao, one of the suspects, demanded Php 40 million in exchange for the liberty of Weijian.

Security guards responded to the incident after receiving a call from Juvanie Baterna Lapinig, the personal drive of Weijian, which resulted to the arrest of the suspects.

PBGen. Kirby Kraft, director of SPD, said the suspects will face charges for usurpation of authority, trespass to dwelling, serious illegal detention and attempted Robbery

Ayala Alabang Village heightened security in response to the incident.

Jimmy Dela Rosa, president of the Ayala Alabang Village Association, also urged residents on Wednesday, November 23, to remain on alert and report any 'suspicious-looking characters' inside the subdivision.

"Mabuti naman yung mga neighbors dito, neighborhood, sila-sila na rin mismo ang tumatawag kapag meron silang nakitang suspect, yung parang suspicious looking characters," Dela Rosa said during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.

Last Friday, November 18, authorities raided a house used as a shabu laboratory in Ayala Alabang Village and arrested two suspects.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said that the raid resulted to the seizure of Php 149.6 million worth of shabu and chemicals used to make narcotics.
