Former congressman Teodoro 'Teddy' Casiño described the 2023 State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as 'one-sided'.
Casiño said on Tuesday, July 25, that the figures presented by the President lacked context, and does not display the situation of ordinary citizens.
"Ito ay State of the Nation sa punto de vista ng Malacanang. Siyempre puro maganda yung sinabi ng Pangulo. Napakarami niyang numero na sinabi pero mukhang wala naman sa context," Casiño said during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.
"Napakaraming pangako pero hindi ito ang tunay na nagpapakita ng tunay na kalagayan ng ating mga karaniwang kababayan," he added.
The former Bayan Muna Partylist Representative particularly questioned the statement of the Chief Executive that prices of goods and services have gone down.
"Saan planeta nakatira iyan si Pangulong Marcos? Bakit niya iyan nasabi," Casiño quipped.
"Hindi iyan ang nararamdaman ng mamayan. Iyan nga ang number one na pinagkakaabalahan ng ating kababayan, kung paano haharapin itong mataas na presyo ng bilihin," he stressed.
Casiño accused President Marcos of presenting the data in order to make it appear that his Administration has many achievements and improved the situation in the Philippines.
He even shrugged off the 7.6 percent growth of the economy in the Philippines, the fastest rate of economic growth recorded by the country since 1976, in 2022.
The former lawmaker pointed out that the Philippines recorded the said economic growth rate after the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic caused the worst economic performance of the country since World War II.
"May mga ganoon mapanlinlang presentation ng datos," Casiño said.
