The Intramuros Administration is leading "Cleantramuros," a volunteer effort aimed at promoting a clean culture within and beyond the Walled City.
According to Jeffrey Yap, OIC of the Intramuros Administration's Urban Planning and Committee Development, approximately 15 volunteers participated in the clean-up campaign on Sunday.
He said that the majority of the rubbish cleared by volunteers was food waste and wrappers.
Moreover, Yap stated that participating in the program had advantages.
“Apart from their volunteerism, we’re offering free entrance sa Fort Santiago sa lahat ng mag-bo-volunteer sa clean-up. Bibigyan din naming sila ng certificate of volunteerism. Iyon ang aming thank you doon sa mga nag-volunteer for the clean-up drive," he said.
People can also give brooms to "Cleantramuros," a communal service mentioned by Yap.
Interested participants in the weekly clean-up can check out the Intramuros Administration Facebook page for more information.
