Local takoyaki store “Taragis Ta-Q-Yaki” revealed that its April Fool’s Day challenge, which had gone viral, was actually scripted.

In a now-deleted post, the takoyaki store shared an April Fool’s Day challenge stating that anyone who gets a tattoo of the shop’s logo on their forehead would receive a P100,000.

Ramil Albano was up for the challenge, having posted a photo showing the shop’s logo tattooed on his forehead.

Shop owner Carl Quion confessed through a Facebook video on Saturday that the entire April Fool’s Day challenge was scripted and that Ramil Albano was part of the shop’s marketing ploy to gain traction online.

Quion explained in detail how he executed the plan which started back in April last year. He shared asking his tattoo artist friend to find someone willing to “sacrifice” for the act which led him to Albano.

“Oo, nagsinungaling ako sa inyo at gusto kong humingi ng tawad,” Quion shared in an 11-minute video.

“Dinala namin kayo dito sa isang malaking marketing stunt na may iba’t-ibang klase ng emosyon, diskusyon, at pagpapakitang tao,” he added.
