The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated eight shipments totaling P104 million in imported agricultural products and cigarettes during an inspection on Saturday, Feb, 25.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) chief Alvin Enciso reported on Saturday that the shipments contained misdeclared and undeclared red and white onions, sugar, and cigarettes from China, Hong Kong, and India.

Enciso stated that the shipments arrived between December 29, 2022, and February 10, 2022—five from China, two from Hong Kong, and one from India—and were examined on February 17 and 23 following the issuance of Alert Orders based on derogatory information received by the CIIS-MICP.

Meanwhile, the shipment consignees have yet to be identified, but they will be required to present the proper importation permits.

In the absence of such documents, the BOC will initiate seizure and forfeiture proceedings.

The case files will be forwarded to the bureau's Action Team Against Smugglers for charging.

Malacañang announced Rubio's appointment on February 10.
