Senate President Juan Miguel 'Migz' Zubiri announced on Monday that all Senate employees will receive an increased inflationary assistance by August.
During the flag-raising ceremony in Senate, he said inflation assistance would increase from Php 12,200 to Php 50,000.
"Bigla na lamang tumataas ang presyo ng asukal, sibuyas, at gasolina. In fact, to help you deal with your daily expenses, we have improved your inflationary adjustment assistance. Tumaas ang inflation, e'di dapat itaas din natin ang assistance," he said.
Likewise, Zubiri announced that the medical assistance will also increase from Php 30,000 to Php 50,000.
In an interview with the media, the Senate President said this assistance is one-time only.
"Binibigyan natin sila ng priority para makatulong sa kanila dahil hirap na hirap ang ating mga kababayan sa mga napakamahal [na bilihin] ngayon," he added.
At least 3,000 Senate employees will receive the inflation assistance, Zubiri noted.
The announcement comes a week after Senator Raffy Tulfo filed a resolution seeking a review of the existing policy on the increase of the country's minimum wage in a bid to improve workers' standard of living and quality of life amid the 8.7 percent inflation.
