Resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co remained a 'no-show' at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) office in Taguig City, despite being subpoenaed to attend a 10 a.m. hearing.
Co, who recently resigned from Congress, was expected to appear alongside former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Martin Romualdez, who arrived on time and faced the commission earlier in the morning in the ICI Building, Taguig City.
ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Hosaka earlier warned that if Co continues to ignore the subpoena, the commission will elevate the matter to court and move to cite him in contempt.
According to Hosaka, Co is still currently out of the country.
The subpoena, sent last week, directed Co, who is also the former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, to turn over records, contracts, and reports related to government projects, project proposals, feasibility studies, and master plans of flood control projects in which he or his family may have had an interest.
Meanwhile, when Romualdez asked if Co should return to the Philippines to face the inquiry, he said all individuals invited by the ICI are expected to comply and appear before the commission.
The ICI continues its investigation into alleged irregularities and conflicts of interest involving major public infrastructure and flood control projects across the country.
