Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo placed seventh in the horizontal bar final at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Baku in Baku, Azerbaijan, marking a solid showing in his first senior-level international competition.

Competing in the event finals on Sunday, March 8 (Philippine time), Yulo posted a score of 13.033 in the horizontal bar to finish seventh among the finalists.

Earlier in the competition, the young Filipino gymnast also reached the floor exercise final, where he placed sixth with a score of 13.900, showing promise against a strong field of seasoned senior athletes.

Despite the tough competition, the 18-year-old standout delivered consistent routines throughout the meet, highlighting his transition from the junior ranks to the senior level.

Yulo previously made his mark on the international stage with two bronze medals at the Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, establishing himself as one of the rising stars of Philippine gymnastics.

Following the Baku leg, Yulo is set to compete in the next stop of the World Cup series in Antalya, Turkey, where he will continue his campaign against the world’s top gymnasts on March 12-15.
