Attention all Wicked fans: ready your popcorn (or fries) and drinks during the year-long intermission, because the Broadway adaptation just had a new title, and it was all for good.

On Tuesday, Universal Pictures announced the new title of the Tony-winning Broadway’s two-part feature. Its previous title, Wicked Part Two, was renamed last December 16; ahead of its theatrical release next year.

The new moniker, Wicked: For Good, is a nod to Glinda and Elphaba’s duet, written by the original composer of the stage show, Stephen Schwartz. It will premiere on November 21, 2025, with Jon M. Chu as the director.

The Wicked adaptation is currently screening in cinemas globally, surpassing over $500 million, as the holidays near. It stars mega pop star Ariana Grande as Glinda and multi-awarded actress Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

The film adaptation has long been in the works after the stage version’s debut in 2003. Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel portrayed the characters of Glinda and Elphaba for the Broadway show that same year.

Loosely based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the story follows the characters of the Wizard of Oz before Dorothy’s arrival. The prequel takes its audience back to Oz, with then-aspiring witches, Glinda and Elphaba, in their youth as students at Shiz University.
