The Municipality of Calasiao and Dagupan City ordered the cease of work operations on Monday, July 31, due to floods brought on by Typhoon Egay, known by its international name Doksuri, and the southwest monsoon.
Last Friday, July 28, both local governments proclaimed a state of emergency.
Calasiao Mayor Belen Fernandez and Dagupan City Mayor Kevin Roy Macanlalay respectively issued the order suspending work.
However, Macanlalay made it clear in Executive Order 59-2023, which was released on Sunday, that workers in healthcare, emergency services, disaster relief and response, and other related services are not included in the work suspension order.
Some of the flooded villages in Calasiao are Mancup, Longos, Lasip, Songkoy, Lumbang, Talibaew, and Banaoag.
Thirty-one villages in Dagupan City, including the financial area, are swamped with flood.
