Going up against the defending champions and Asian powerhouse team, Japan, the Philippine squad endured a crushing 38-point defeat, with the final score standing at 95-57 in favor of Japan.
Despite the loss, the Philippine team displayed a more competitive performance against their formidable opponents, led by the outstanding contributions of Vanessa De Jesus, who tallied 12 points and 4 assists, and Afril Bernardino, who recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.
