A woman lost her life while trying to rescue her pet dog from the rooftop of a rented house amidst heavy rain in Package 3 Vitarich Brgy 176, North Caloocan.

The woman, identified as Eloisa Gentugao, 28, had climbed onto the roof to retrieve her dog, which had been placed there by her partner after a dispute between them.

Unfortunately, as she attempted to carry out the rescue, Eloisa lost her footing and fell into the river below.

The strong current swept her away, and despite the efforts of onlookers and local authorities, she could not be saved.

Nestor Patron, a community leader, speculated that Eloisa might have sustained injuries from hitting rocks in the river before succumbing to drowning.

Eloisa was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigations revealed that she had been in the company of two individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community who were drinking alcohol at her partner's rented house just before the incident occurred.

Eloisa's family expressed grief and anger, placing blame on her partner for the unfortunate death. They are considering legal action against her.

"Pilit na kinukuha ng anak ko ['yung aso] kaya nadulas siguro 'yung paa [at] bumagsak na sa ilog. Ipakulong ko 'yang tomboy na 'yan dahil siya ang dahilan kung bakit namatay ang anak ko," said Bebenia Retada, Eloisa's mother.

The family contended that if the dog had not been placed on the roof amid the disagreement, this tragic outcome might have been averted.
