While a podium finish eluded her, 17-year-old Filipina alpine skier Tallulah Proulx showcased resilience and promise at the 2026 Winter Olympics, finishing 52nd in the women’s Giant Slalom event.

Competing at the iconic Tofane Alpine Skiing Center, site of the 1956 Winter Games, Proulx completed her two runs with times of 1:17.15 and 1:24.47, posting an aggregate of 2:41.62. Of the 76 competitors, 22 did not finish the course, including fellow 17-year-old Neringa Stepanauskaite of Lithuania.

Despite the challenge, Proulx’s finish placed her ahead of some of Southeast Asia’s rivals, including China’s Zhang Yuying, and 20 other Western and European skiers who failed to complete the race.

The event was dominated by local favorite Federica Brignone, who clocked the fastest aggregate time of 2:13.50, finishing 28 seconds ahead of Proulx. Still, the young Fil-American sees the experience as a stepping stone for future competitions.

Proulx’s teammate Francis Ceccarelli also made a mark for the Philippines, placing 54th in the men’s Giant Slalom. Their performances underline the country’s growing presence in winter sports, giving hope for future medal contention.

At only 17, Proulx was one of four teenagers in the women’s field and one of the few to complete both runs, highlighting her composure and potential on the international stage.

The teenage Fil-Am skier will stage her next race at the Slalom run on Wednesday, February 18.
