The PBA Board of Governors has extended its trust and confidence in Commissioner Willie Marcial by granting him a three-year contract extension, securing his position until the 2026-27 season.

Led by Chairman Ricky Vargas, the Board expressed their unwavering support for the 61-year-old Marcial, who has been at the helm of Asia's pioneering professional basketball league since 2018.

Marcial still had one year remaining from a similar three-year extension granted to him by the Board in 2020, just before the onset of the pandemic.

During the conclusion of the annual planning session held at the Warwick Hotel, Chairman Vargas announced, "The commissioner was overwhelmingly extended for another three years."

Marcial, who is the 10th commissioner in the 48-year history of the PBA, expressed his gratitude for the continued support of the Board, despite the numerous challenges the league has faced under his leadership over the past six years.

He specifically thanked Chairman Vargas for his unwavering belief in him, stating, "I consider myself lucky because he has always been my chairman."

Vargas assumed the PBA chairmanship at the beginning of Marcial's term as commissioner.

In addition, Atty. Ogie Narvasa was appointed by the Board as the corporate secretary and corporate secretary for PBA properties.

Previously serving as the commissioner of the Philippine Basketball League and the Metropolitan Basketball Association, Atty. Narvasa, the son of the late Chief Justice Andres Narvasa III, will work closely with PBA legal counsel Atty. Melvin Mendoza.
