The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) investigates the whole team of screening officers involved in the viral video of the pat-down search done to members of a South Korean boy band ENHYPEN at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
OTS administrator Mao Aplasca noted several infractions committed by the OTS personnel in the video.
"Doon sa video, may mga observation kami na hindi tama ang pagkagawa ng search," Aplasca said on Tuesday February 6, during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
"Yung nakita natin, hindi iyon ang standard at saka hindi iyon ang tamang procedure ng pag-conduct ng 'pat down'," he added.
Aplasca explained that, normally, male personnel conducts the security check on male passengers.
The OTS administrator said that female screening officers can only conduct a pat-down search on male passengers if the airport lacks the necessary personnel.
Aplasca also mentioned that OTS prohibits the taking of videos in security check-point areas.
"Kasama iyon sa titignan namin sa aming investigation. Kung kasama sila sa nagkukuha, ibig sabihin alam nila yung aming regulations, and willfully na-violate nila," Aplasca said.
Aplasca stressed that OTS personnel should 'maintain their dignity' even when facing celebrities at the airport.
Aplasca said that the investigation will also include the supervisors of the screening officers since they should have corrected the personnel involved in the viral frisking incident.
He said that the OTS personnel could face suspension, or termination for committing serious violations of security procedures.
Netizens have criticized the NAIA staff and described them as 'unprofessional' for giggling while conducting the security check at members of ENHYPHEN, who just finished a three-day concert in the Philippines.
The viral video caused the hashtag #MIAADoBetter to trends in social media.
