The Department of Transportation’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) reported that a white SUV illegally entered the northbound EDSA Busway near Ortigas Station and managed to evade authorities on Thursday morning.

When flagged down, the driver claimed he was on his way to the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Camp Aguinaldo, but was unable to present a valid driver’s license.

Moreover, upon being directed to move to the side lane, the driver responded by accelerating and maneuvering erratically through traffic to evade authorities.

Authorities later discovered a key discrepancy—the SUV’s license plate did not match its registered vehicle type, indicating possible fraud.

In response, the DOTr-SAICT has formally requested the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to issue a Show Cause Order to the vehicle’s registered owner, requiring an explanation for the violations within 72 hours or face penalties and possible blacklisting.

Additionally, authorities are actively working to trace the identity of the driver, who is still at large.

Since its establishment in 2020, the EDSA Busway, a vital lane for buses that serves over 21.5 million commuters between January and April 2025, has been dealing with continuous violations by unauthorized vehicles.
