Water cannon used against cops serving arrest warrant against Quiboloy
by Kristan Carag12 June 2024

Members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) used a water cannon against the police serving an arrest warrant against the founder of the religious group, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, last Monday, June 10,

Quiboloy faces charges for child abuse, sexual abuse, and violation of Republic Act 9208, also known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.

PMaj Catherine Dela Rey, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office Davao, confirmed that the water cannon incident happened when the police attempted to serve the arrest warrant at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ College but assured that none of the police operatives suffered injuries.

"Kawawa yung kapulisan natin kasi madaling araw, malamig pero they stood their ground kasi it is our mandate as law enforcers," Dela Rey said on Tuesday, June 11, during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.

The cops managed to enter the compound after negotiating with the members of the KOJC but law enforcement units failed to find Quiboloy or any of his five co-accused.

Dela Rey said that the cops excercised maximum tolerance to avoid a commotion.

"After nung pangyayari at napakiusapan, peaceful naman kaming pinapasok. Iyon ang pinaka-important doon na wala naman nasaktan on both sides at naging maganda naman yung pagpasok ng kapulisan sa Kingdom of Jesus Christ College," Dela Rey stressed.

The police also served arrest warrants against Quiboloy and his co-accussed to two other properties linked to the KOJC; the Tamayong Prayer Mountain, and Glory Mountain, but they remain at large.
