Netflix dropped the official teaser for “Damsel” starring British actress Millie Bobby Brown set to premiere on the streaming platform in 2024.

According to Netflix, Oscar-nominated director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo flipped the archetypal damsel-in-distress stories into a shocking twist: her Prince Charming sacrificed her to a dragon, leading the said damsel to rely solely on herself.

“It was a very intense journey that I was so excited to design and to develop. At the core, this is such a beautiful story about a young woman becoming a strong, independent, and empowered adult. Elodie doesn’t have any kind of support. It’s a real survival experience,” Fresnadillo said.

The first teaser unveils a shot of Elodie sprinting to hide from a dragon and seemingly trailing from behind with a rendition of Timber Timbre’s “Run From Me” playing in the background.

Netflix explained that “Damsel” follows a damsel who agreed to marry a prince only to discover that it was the royal family’s trap to repay an ancient debt. Elodie gets hurled into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon where she fights to survive.
