Studio Canal UK dropped the official trailer of the thriller film “Mothers’ Instinct” starring Academy Award winners Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.

“Alice and Celine live a traditional lifestyle with successful husbands and sons of the same age. Life's perfect harmony is suddenly shattered after a tragic accident. Guilt, suspicion, and paranoia combine to unravel their sisterly bond,” the official synopsis reads.

“Marking the directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Benoit Delhomme, we follow Alice and Céline as their familial bonds are gradually undermined by guilt and paranoia and a gripping battle of wills develops, revealing the darker side of maternal love,” the YouTube description states.

Based on the book “Mothers’ Instinct: A Novel of Suspense by Barbara Abel,” the nearly three-minute trailer follows the lives of Alice and Celine after the latter’s son Max falls over the second-floor porch.

The film focuses on the tight bond of Alice and Celine slowly escaping from their grasp as a series of guilt, paranoia, and grief unveil the shadows lurking behind motherhood.

“Mothers’ Instinct” is yet to divulge the film’s release date.
