Her web connects them all. But how exactly?
As Sony Pictures unveiled the official trailer for “Spider-Man” spinoff “Madame Web,” a string of questions on her clairvoyance, fragmented visions, and a man in a black spidey suit wreaking havoc in her life take place.
“Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities,” the logline read.
“Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present,” it added.
According to director S.J. Clarkson, “Madame Web” is different from any other superhero.
“When you think about how Spiderman flies through the air or Venom when he changes, it’s so mythical to us. With her, it’s all psychological and I found that incredibly exciting to explore,” she said.
The trailer shows Cassandra holding the key to the girls being sewn together in a universe filled with superpowers, Clarkson confirmed.
“Madame Web brings these four superheroes [and] works together,” Clarkson said.
Together with Dakota are Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.
“Madame Web” is set to hit theaters on February 14.
