Several towns in the provinces of Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna have declared class suspension on Monday, September 25 due to the hazard that the continuous volcanic smog or vog coming from Taal Volcano poses.
As of 8 AM, the following areas have canceled face-to-face classes at all levels in public and private schools:
CAVITE
- Tagaytay City
- Alfonso
- General Emilio Aguinaldo (Bailen)
LAGUNA
- Cabuyao City
- Calamba City – kindergarten to senior high school only, public and private schools
- Los Baños
- Bay
BATANGAS
- Tanauan City
- Sto. Tomas City
- Malvar
- Laurel
- Mataas na Kahoy
The aforementioned areas in Batangas province have shifted to modular distance learning.
Based on its latest advisory, Phivolcs said Taal Volcano has emitted 2,730 tonnes of sulfur dioxide per day and observed upwelling of hot volcanic fluids in the volcano's main crater lake.
The state seismologist said it also monitored a 2,400-meter-long volcanic plume and a volcanic vog.
Phivolcs also observed a long-term deflation of the Taal Caldera and short-term inflation of the northern flanks of the Taal Volcano Island.
