The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) Ilocos and Western Visayas respectively issued a wage order approving the increase in the daily minimum wage rates for private establishments, according to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).
In a press release issued on Sunday, Oct. 23, the NWPC said the daily minimum wage in Ilocos would increase by ₱30 to ₱35, starting Nov. 6.
"Upon effectivity, minimum wage rates will be set at ₱435 for non-agricultural establishments with 10 or more workers and ₱402 for non-agricultural establishments with less than 10 workers, and agricultural workers," the agency said.
Alongside, the monthly wage rate of domestic workers or kasambahays in Ilocos would hike by ₱500 and thus, pushes the monthly wage rate to ₱5,500.
Meanwhile, the NWPC said the daily minimum wage in Western Visayas would rise by ₱30, beginning Nov. 16.
"Upon effectivity, the daily minimum wage rates in the region will be ₱480 for non-agriculture establishments with more than 10 workers, P450 for non-agriculture establishments with 10 workers or less, and ₱440 for workers in agriculture," it said.
Similarly, NPC said domestic workers would have a ₱500 increase in monthly wage, thus bringing the monthly wage to ₱5,000.
"The increases, which considered the various wage determination criteria provided under Republic Act No. 6727 or the Wage Rationalization Act, either resulted from the motu proprio act of the Board or petitions filed by labor groups seeking an increase in the daily minimum wage due to escalating prices of basic goods and commodities," the NWPC said.
