Vice President Sara Duterte ended weeks of speculation after confirming her absence in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA).

VP Sara confirmed that she will not attend PBBM's third SONA on July 22, for the first time after the start of their terms.

"No, I will not attend the SONA. I am appointing myself as the designated survivor," Duterte said during an ambush interview in Davao City.

This continues the no-show stint of the Vice President, following her absence in the Palarong Pambansa 2024 where she was supposed to attend the opening rites as the outgoing secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) after resigning on June 19.
