The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability received information that Vice President Sara Duterte will attend today’s continuation of the hearing regarding the investigation into the 2022 and 2023 confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
According to House Secretary General Reginald Velasco, the information is not yet confirmed. However, the committee already expressed its readiness in case Vice President Sara Duterte decides to attend.
Meanwhile, Velasco mentioned that they are waiting for an update from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center regarding the condition of OVP Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez. Once her condition stabilizes, she will be invited to the committee hearing.
"We are waiting for the medical evaluation ng mga doctor sa Veterans Memorial Hospital. Tapos sila rin magsasabi sa amin kung makakadalo siya o hindi," Velasco said in an ambush interview with the media on Monday.
In a report by RH Milky Rigonan, Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua revealed that four OVP officials, who had been held in contempt for missing previous hearings, are expected to attend today’s session.
Among those expected to attend are OVP Special Disbursing Officer Gina Acosta, former DepEd SDO Edward Fajarda, former DepEd Assistant Secretary Sunshine Fajarda, and OVP Assistant Chief of Staff Lemuel Ortonio.
The hearing scheduled for today, November 25, will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.
