Vice President Sara Duterte said she is 'ready' to assume the presidency should President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. resign, be removed from office, or become unable to perform his duties.

Speaking amid ongoing issues of alleged corruption and reported destabilization efforts within the government, Duterte emphasized that the Constitution clearly outlines the vice president’s mandate in the presidential line of succession.

“There is no question about my readiness,” the Vice President said.

“Wala nang tanong doon kung ano ang gagawin ko ‘yun ang mandate sa akin ng Constitution at alam ko iyon noong ako ay tumakbo, binoto ninyo ako as vice-president, knowing that I am the first in line,” she added.

Duterte explained that from the time she decided to run for vice president, she understood the responsibilities attached to the role.

“Tumakbo ako bilang vice president, ipinresenta ko sa inyo ‘yung sarili ko at alam ko na first in line ako sa succession,” she said.

The Vice President’s remarks come as political tensions continue to rise, with questions surrounding governance and stability drawing national attention.

Meanwhile, she has declined to offer any advice to the government regarding its efforts to address corruption.

According to the Vice President, she sees no clear demonstration of sincerity from the government in addressing the issue for the benefit of the public.

"Ayaw ko nang magpayo sa kanila kasi nakikita naman natin na wala silang sinseridad para sa taong bayan," she emphasized.
