Vice President Sara Duterte took to social media on Tuesday to show her gratitude to Senators Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa, Christopher 'Bong' Go, Robin Padilla, and others who manifested their support after the removal of 75 police personnel from the VP's security detail.
"Nagpapasalamat ako kay Senador Dela Rosa, Senador Go at Senador Padilla, mga AFP at PNP personnel, sa mga kababaihan, at lahat ng ordinaryong mamamayan sa inyong pagtugon sa panawagan ni Senador Bato ng boluntaryong pagtulong para sa aking seguridad," Duterte said in her statement.
"Ramdam ko ang inyong malasakit, pagmamahal at suporta," she added.
The VP mentioned that there is no need to contribute money for her security. According to her, working in the government entails sacrificing one’s life for the masses as part of service.
She then proceeded to appeal for the safety of her family, may it be physical or online.
"Kung sakali man, huwag ninyong palampasin ang sinumang gagawa ng kapahamakan laban sa kanila," Duterte said.
Senator Dela Rosa and Padilla called on former PNP/AFP personnels and former rebels with proper documents to volunteer as a security detail for the VP, respectively.
The Office of the Vice President confirmed on July 23, the order of PNP Chief Rommel Marbil relieving all 75 PNP Police and security personnel assigned for her protection.
On Monday, the vice president retaliated Marbil’s alleged lies regarding the removal of 75 police personnel in her security, calling it as a form of ‘political harassment’.
