For Jose Rizal’s 127th death anniversary, Vice President Sara Duterte urged Filipinos to continue the vision that our national hero ignited.
In her message, Duterte called on Filipinos to not confine Rizal’s legacy in history books alone and to fight for the causes he championed.
“Today, we issue a call to action. Let us continue the vision that Rizal ignited and expand his legacy through the causes and dreams we champion in our time. We must be brave in [working] for reforms and innovations, even if it means making significant sacrifices. Rizal's life was a testament to the power of courage in the face of adversity,” Duterte said.
According to Duterte, Rizal’s legacy is a guiding light for every Filipino and his love for our country serves as a reminder to “work tirelessly for the rights and dignity of those who are marginalized and underrepresented.”
Duterte also urged the Filipino youth to uphold our national hero’s values and use these for inspiration.
“His curiosity and passion for knowledge serve as a beacon, showing us the path towards a brighter future. Let us honor his memory by nurturing our own hunger for knowledge and becoming the leaders who will carry our nation forward,” she said.
