Vice President Sara Duterte opted to skip the House of Representatives' deliberation on the Office of the Vice President's (OVP) budget for fiscal year 2025.
In a letter addressed to House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, dated September 10, Duterte stated that the OVP had submitted all required documentation to the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, including a detailed presentation of the proposed budget.
Furthermore, Duterte reiterated that she is leaving the decision on the OVP’s budget in the hands of Congress.
"The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has submitted all necessary documentation to the House of Representatives - Committee on Appropriations, including a detailed presentation on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2025," Duterte said in the letter.
"I also have articulated my position on the issues outlined in my opening statement during the previous hearing on 27 August 2024," she added.
Ultimately, the office will entirely rely on the Committee's discretion and judgment for their budget proposal for the next fiscal year.
