Vice President Sara Duterte fired back at her political opponents and maintained that she would not forgive them, even as the celebration of Christmas draws near.
In a speech during a Thanksgiving Ceremony in Lagawe, Ifugao Province last Tuesday, the Vice President expressed her sentiments regarding the upcoming holiday season.
Duterte remarked that many, particularly Catholics, are already making preparations for the coming Christmas season. She further emphasized that Christmas is a time for forgiveness, love, and giving, however, if she were to be asked, she said that she would not forgive.
"Lagi ko pong sinasabi na depende po 'yan sa tao. Pero dahil ako ay Vice President, kailangan ko sabihin sa inyo na 'yan po ang mensahe at diwa ng Pasko," Duterte stated.
"Pero po ako, hindi po talaga ako magpapatawad. Pero kailangan kong sabihin sa inyo na ang Pasko ay panahon ng pagpapatawad," she added.
Duterte mentioned that it is up to each individual whether or not they will forgive, noting that people are different—some forgive quickly, others take longer, and some carry their anger with them until the grave.
In the same event, the Vice President, together with the OVP, distributed aid to 1,000 beneficiaries from the Indigenous Peoples, Senior Citizens, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) sectors.
Moreover, 'PagbaBAGo' Bags were also distributed to 238 students from Grades 1 to 6 at the Ifugao SPED Center.
In a prior ambush interview with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., he stated, "never say never," and made it clear that he is not ruling out the possibility of reconciliation with the Vice President.
