Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday visited the wake of 10 victims of the deadly 6.9-magnitude earthquake at Hacienda Filomena in Bogo City, Cebu, personally extending her condolences to the bereaved families.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) will provide assistance to affected residents, including financial aid as well as food and non-food relief items. Duterte assured communities that have yet to receive support that her satellite office in Cebu will work to reach them in the coming days.
Despite being in the same province for disaster response efforts, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Duterte did not cross paths during their respective visits.
The earthquake, which struck Tuesday night, has claimed dozens of lives and left widespread damage across Northern Cebu, with Bogo City among the hardest-hit areas. Search, rescue, and relief operations from the government, public and private groups remain ongoing.
