Vice President Sara Duterte formally announced her bid for the presidency in the 2028 elections on Wednesday, February 18.

“Mga kababayan, ibalik natin ang tapang at malasakit para sa Diyos, sa bayan, at para sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Ako si Sara Duterte. Tatakbo bilang pangulo ng Pilipinas,” she said during a press conference.

During the briefing, Vice President Duterte also expressed her apologies to the Filipino people for past actions.

She acknowledged her involvement in supporting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s presidential campaign and expressed regret over institutional abuses and the widespread corruption that she said has left many Filipinos suffering from floods and other crises.
