VP Sara Duterte thanks INC's 'National Rally for Peace'
by Mary Antalan14 January 2025

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to the religious organization Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) for holding its peace rally and opposing the impeachment complaints filed against her.

Duterte emphasized that a peaceful and united Philippines will never be shaken despite the challenges it is facing.

On Monday, around 1.8 million members of INC participated in what was called the "National Rally for Peace," which supported President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s statement urging lawmakers not to file impeachment complaints against Duterte, stating that such actions would only distract from solving the country's real issues.

INC stated that it advocates for the country to remain united, as political rivalries would only divide the Filipino people.

The Vice President is currently facing three impeachment complaints, and a fourth is anticipated to be filed soon, according to House Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

The first three complaints have been verified and are ready to be sent to the office of the House Speaker. These complaints are related to the alleged misuse of her office's funds and her previous controversial "threat" statement to the country's highest officials.

Duterte said she welcomes the impeachment complaints which have "finally" been filed against her, so she may rebuff the accusations without dragging staff in probes.
