Vice President Sara Duterte praised President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. for his "inspiring" leadership during his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 24.
Duterte issued a press statement shortly after Marcos' speech at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, expressing gratitude for the President.
She stated that Marcos' leadership is distinguished by decisiveness, strength, fortitude, and political will, all of which have been clearly displayed throughout the past year in office.
"It is this kind of leadership that inspires us to be more aggressive in delivering on what we have promised to the Filipino people," she added.
Duterte, who is also the Education Secretary, praised Marcos' support for the basic education reforms implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) through its "MATATAG Agenda" and his development agenda for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or BARMM.
Both administration and opposition MPs praised Marcos for his pragmatic appraisal of his one-year administration, recognizing that the country's fundamentals are sound and "improving."
