Vice President Sara Duterte flew back to the Philippines on Sunday, after a month spent in aid of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is presently detained at the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague, Netherlands.
In a report by Weena Jesoro, Duterte returned following the completion of the former president’s core defense team, headed by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman, for his crimes against humanity case before the International Criminal Court (ICC). She said she has accomplished her mission and left everything well-organized, including family visitation arrangements.
She was on the Emirates Airline flight no. EK 334, which touched down before 10 PM on April 6, said the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
“Vice President Sara Duterte arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Sunday, 06 April 2025, at approximately 9:56 PM (Philippine Standard Time) via Emirates Airlines flight no. EK 334, following her recently concluded trip to The Hague, Netherlands,” the OVP’s advisory, which was released at midnight, read.
Duterte had rushed to join her father in The Hague on March 12, the day after he was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and brought to the Netherlands on the same night.
In a couple of months, the Vice President’s impeachment trial is set to begin, which she revealed her lawyers are continuously preparing for.
