Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte said the successful resumption of face-to-face classes is among the achievements she has accomplished within her first 100 days in office.
“Ang pinaka-mahalaga na masasabi ko na nagawa natin as a country is naibalik natin ang in-persons classes sa eskwelahan,” Duterte shared in an interview with reporters on Thursday, Oct. 6.
[I can say that the important achievement we have done as a country is the return of in-person classes in schools.]
She said many studies showed that in-person classes have huge benefits for learners.
“Kaya napakahalaga na nabalik natin ang option na iyon sa ating mga eskwelahan, ang pag-conduct ng five days in-person classes. Meron tayong schools right now na ganun nga ang ginagawa dahil nakita din nila na napapadali ang pagtuturo nila, ” she added.
[That’s why it is important that we brought back the five days of in-person classes as an option for schools again. We have schools doing this right now because they saw that this helps them teach better.]
Last August 22, some private and public schools nationwide fully reopened for the school year 2022-2023.
By November, all schools shall conduct full face-to-face classes following the DepEd memorandum order.
Earlier, Duterte said her office was preparing a full report of her first 100 days, and once completed, it would be submitted to President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
Duterte will be marking her first 100 days in office on Saturday, Oct. 8.
