Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday, Dec. 26, warned the public to be cautious against individuals or groups who use her name to extort money to be used as “campaign funds.”

In a press statement posted on her official Facebook page, Duterte said these scammers often posed as an official of the Bureau of Customs or other government agencies.

“Mag-ingat sa mga tao o grupong mangongolekta sa inyo ng pera gamit ang aking pangalan. Magpapakilala sila bilang mga kawani ng Bureau of Customs o iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan. Ang kanilang pakay ay ang makakuha sa inyo ng pera na umano ay pondo para sa kampanya. Ito ay isang scam,” the Vice President said.

She stressed that she did not hand out such orders.
