92 million registered Filipino voters are encouraged to cast their votes for the barangay, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls today, Oct. 30, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia ensured that the poll body is a hundred percent ready for the BSK polls that were held off last December 2022.

Comelec posted the step-by-step guide that registered voters should keep in mind before going to their respective polling precincts.

Comelec also urged the public to remember the number of candidates they can choose when casting their votes: one barangay chief, seven Sangguniang barangay members, one SK chairperson, and seven SK members.

15 to 17-year-old registered voters can only vote in the SK elections, while 18 to 30-year-olds can vote in both SK and barangay elections. 31-year-olds and above can only vote in the barangay elections.

Meanwhile, Garcia said presenting any valid identification card is not necessary before voting, but it is encouraged to bring one in case doubt is cast on a registered voter.

“Bawal tayo mamimigay, magpapasakay ng mga botante at technically vote buying po yan [...] iwasan na lang natin lalong lalo na yung mga pananakot,” he said in an interview with DZRH.

“Napakaimportante ng araw na ito. Ilang beses pong naunsyami. Tangkilikin natin ang bawat presinto [at] sana po pumunta tayo. Ito lang ang pagkakataon na maipapakita natin na pantay-pantay tayo. Ang boto mo, ang boto ko [ay] iisa at ganyan po kahalaga ‘yan para sa ating demokrasya,” the Comelec chief added.
