Filipinos will continue to enjoy <a href="https://www.boca.gov.tw/cp-149-4486-7785a-2.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">visa-free entry to Taiwan</a> as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) recently announced the extension of this policy.&nbsp;
Starting from August 1, 2023, the extension will be in effect until July 31, 2024.&nbsp;
The decision to prolong the trial visa-free entry measure for another year was made to facilitate bilateral exchanges and tourism in the post-pandemic era.&nbsp;
"After evaluating the effectiveness of the above convenience measures over the past years and considering the need to revive mutual bilateral exchanges and tourism in the post-pandemic era, participating agencies decided to extend the trial visa-free entry measure for one year for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024," <a href="https://en.mofa.gov.tw/News_Content.aspx?n=1328&amp;sms=273&amp;s=114997" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taiwan's MOFA said in a statement</a>.
The visa exemption program allows Filipinos to stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days, except for those holding diplomatic, official, or service passports.&nbsp;
However, Philippine passport holders must fulfill certain requirements, including providing proof of accommodation, the contact information of their host or sponsor, and sufficient travel funds.&nbsp;
The visa-free entry policy was initially reinstated on September 29, 2022, and has been extended to further promote bilateral exchanges and ensure border and public security.&nbsp;
The MOFA will continue to evaluate and refine visa policies to attract more visitors while maintaining the safety and security of the country.
"MOFA will continue to review and fine-tune visa policies, with a view to strengthen bilateral exchanges and attract more visitors while ensuring border and public security," the statement read.
