The Bureau of Immigration (BI) gave its personnel, particularly frontline officers, the permission to extend holiday greetings to travelers this yuletide season.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado pointed out the necessity of maintaining respectful and inclusive greetings to make sure that all travelers feel welcome, regardless of their background or belief.

“Filipinos are known worldwide for their warmth and hospitality, especially during the holiday season,” Viado stated.

“Greeting is not just about spreading joy; it’s about showing the world the Filipino way of celebrating – with warmth, respect, and inclusivity. It’s a simple gesture that reflects our identity as a people,” he added.

Moreover, he stressed that government personnel are prohibited from accepting gifts or tokens, particularly from travelers.

Viado further explained that a simple greeting to officers, who work tirelessly to serve travelers, would surely lift their spirits, especially during the holidays when they sacrifice time with their families to report for duty.

The BI previously projected an influx of over 110,000 travelers for the upcoming holiday season.

However, the agency assured the traveling public that necessary preparations have been made to ensure smooth operations throughout the festive season, noting that teams are closely monitoring all activities.
