Kapamilya artist Vhong Navarro has finally achieved the justice he has been praying for a long time.
During the airing of It's Showtime on Thursday, Navarro welcomed the decision of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Taguig against Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, Ferdinand Guerrero, and Simeon Raz who were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of serious illegal detention for random.
The four were accused of reclusion perpetua.
"Maraming maraming salamat po sa RTC Taguig Branch 153. Kay Judge Bien at sa lahat ng staff ng court sa ibinigay niyo pong justice sa akin na matagal ko na pong pinagdarasal," said Navarro.
Aside from lifetime imprisonment, the Taguig court ordered the accused amounts of P100,000 as civil damages, P100,000 as civil indemnity, P100,000 as moral damages, and P100,000 as exemplary damages.
The court immediately canceled the bail bond of the accused.
Navarro thanked key persons who helped him seek justice in his case, including his legal team, ABS-CBN bosses, friends, fans, and his wife Tanya, for being with him all through.
In 2014, Lee and his associates were accused of holding Navarro captive and inflicting serious physical injuries on him.
The controversy started when Cornejo filed a complaint with the Southern Police District in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, against Navarro for “alleged violation of the crime of attempted rape.”
Navarro's camp defended and claimed that Navarro was only a "victim of extermination," noting that the event was only a set up by Lee and Cornejo.
