Over one metric ton of 'botcha' or double dead meat was confiscated by the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board in Tondo, Manila.
Dr. Nick Santos, Director of the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board, reported that the ‘botcha’ or double-dead pork was delivered from Valenzuela City to Barangay 148 in Gagalangin, Tondo.
Hot meat in bundles was found in a vehicle, which led to the arrest of its owner. He will face charges for violating the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines and the Food Safety Act of the Philippines.
Santos reported that the surveillance against double-dead meat is conducted as per Mayor Honey Lacuna's stringent instructions to keep an eye on Manila's markets and block the entry of double-dead pork.
