Newly appointed Secretary of Health (DOH) Dr. Ted Herbosa announced on Thursday that he has selected former officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire as the chief of undersecretaries for the agency's activities nationally.

Herbosa stated that Vergeire, who had been the DOH's officer-in-command for over a year, would be in charge of managing other undersecretaries in charge of activities in the National Capital Region (NCR), Southern Luzon, Northern and Central Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Herbosa stated that she and five undersecretaries will assist him in achieving his objectives, as Vergeire DOH's caregiving abilities will be transferred to that department.

Because Herbosa's first aim as health secretary is to digitally transform the Department of Health (DOH), naming Tayag as chief information officer is timely.

He referenced Tayag's time as the director of knowledge management and information technology services from 2016 to 2022.

Herbosa stated that one of his medium-term goals is to digitize the DOH, notably how the agency distributes healthcare, how the budget is spent, and how DOH operations are monitored.

On Monday, June 5, the Presidential Communications Office announced Herbosa's appointment as Health Secretary. The following day, he took his oath of office before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
