A 23-year-old female vegetable vendor was wounded after being shot at close range by a man while she was livestreaming in Purok 4, Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal on Friday night, January 16.
Footage from the livestream showed the victim busy selling vegetables when a man wearing a hat and face mask approached her from behind and suddenly fired a gun at her head, causing her to collapse on the road.
The shooting and the calls for help from witnesses were captured on the livestream. After the incident, the suspect was seen calmly walking away from the area.
Police said the victim was injured after being grazed by a bullet from a .45 caliber firearm. She was rushed to a hospital in Pasig City and is now in stable condition.
During a hot pursuit operation early Saturday morning, authorities arrested the 31-year-old suspect at his residence in Angono, Rizal.
Investigators said the suspect is the former partner of the store owner where the victim works, with jealousy and anger cited as possible motives. The suspect denied the allegations and is currently detained at the Taytay Police Station, facing a charge of frustrated murder.
