Large amounts of penalties ranging from P5,000 to P20,000 will be charged to those who use vape in indoor public areas including offices, schools, airports, and churches, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.
On Thursday, the agency released an order announcing the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for Republic Act No. 11900, or Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act.
This also includes the age of 18 as the minimum age allowed to sell and purchase vape.
First-time offenders are mandated to fine P5,000, and P10,000 for the second offense, while for their third offense, the amount will increase to P20,000.
Vaping is also prohibited in public places including playschools, preparatory to high schools, colleges, universities, youth hostels, recreational facilities, buildings and premises of public and private hospitals, medical, dental, and optical clinics, health centers, nursing homes, dispensaries, and laboratories.
