The winning streak of Team USA in the 2023 FIBA World Cup came to an end on Sunday, September 3, with a 110-104 loss at the hands of Lithuania.

Vaidas Kariniauskas scored 15 points and Mindaugas Kuzminskas added 14 points as Lithuania remains undefeated following the game held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Lithuania went up by 21 points at the first half but the Americans recovered in the third quarter and cut the deficit down to four, 56-52.

The lead of Lithuania went back to double digits, 75-65, after Kariniauskas and Margiris Normantas made the first two baskets in the final period.

The five-time World Cup Champions only held the lead in the first quarter.

Anthony Edwards finished with 35 points while both Mikal Bridges, and Jalen Brunson chipped in 14 points as they powered the rally of team USA in the second half.

Both Lithuania and USA have secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the 19th FIBA World Cup.

Lithuania, which currently has five wins, will go up against Serbia while USA, which has four wins and a single loss, will face Italy on Tuesday, September 5, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
