

The United States secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship after defeating Slovenia, 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20), in their round of 16 match on Monday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Opposite Gabriel Garcia led the Americans with 26 points, including seven service aces, four blocks, and 15 kills. Ethan Champlin added 15 points, while Jordan Ewert chipped in 13.
After dropping the opening set, the U.S. rallied in the second, holding off Slovenia before Ewert delivered the winner. The Americans controlled the third and fourth sets, with Garcia sealing the victory with an ace.
Toncek Stern paced Slovenia with 18 points. Nik Mujanovic added 13 markers, while Jan Kozamernik finished with 10.
USA will face Bulgaria in the quarterfinals on Thursday, September 25.
The round of 16 continues Tuesday with Tunisia facing Czechia at 3:30 p.m. and Serbia meeting Iran at 8 p.m.
