US expert team arrives in PH to help in oil spill clean up in Oriental Mindoro

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) oil spill response team has arrived in the country to help in the ongoing oil spill clean-up operations in Oriental Mindoro.

In the photos posted by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday, USCG was seen paying a courtesy visit to the agency's quarters.

They were welcomed by PCG Commandant CG Admiral Artemio Abu and PCG Spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo.

According to PCG, the USCG visited the agency to discuss the interventions to make in the oil spill cleanup.

Also present in the meeting are Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) expert team.

The JDR expert team comprising eight members from the Japan Coast Guard (JCG), the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) arrived in the country last March 10.

The team were the helping hand of the PH coast guard in the clean-up venture.

Following the Japanese team's arrival, the PCG sent a letter to the US Embassy, seeking for their assistance and equipment.
