Unvaccinated adults and minors in Metro Manila will be prohibited from entering malls, restaurants, and using public transport while the National Capital Region is under Alert Level 3, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Monday.
In a press conference, MMDA chair Benhur Abalos said all Metro Manila mayors have agreed in principle to prohibit unvaccinated residents from going outside unless if they are buying and accessing essential goods and services.
"'Yung mga walang bakuna or unvaccinated, number one, they shall remain in their residences at all times except for the procurement of essential goods and services," Abalos said.
They will also be banned from indoor and alfresco dinings as well as staying in hotels.
However, unvaccinated people will be allowed outside only for activities or exercises within the area of their residences, villages, or barangays, depending on the regulations of concerned local government units (LGUs).
Fully vaccinated individuals, meanwhile, must present their vaccination cards and identification cards upon entry into establishments.
According to Abalos, they are still finalizing the list of new restrictions but added that LGUs will issue separate ordinances for the implementation.
"Para kang nag-ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) only for the unvaccinated. Ito ay temporary lamang, habang nasa Alert Level 3 tayo para maproteksyunan ang walang bakuna," he noted.
[It's like enhanced community quarantine but only for the unvaccinated. This is just temporary while we are still under Alert Level 3 in order to protect the unvaccinated.]
